MA-COMMUNICATIONS JOB OVERVIEW: The Marketing Associate will play an important role in the marketing of a leading line of widely-used professional medical / fitness devices in both existing and new markets. Located at the headquarters office, with minimum travel required, the primary focus of this role is to: * Plan, establish, maintain and keep up with communications and customer marketing plans and results, * Select products for development of key company and distributor marketing communications, promotions and shows, working with the company sales & marketing teams and customer marketing teams to finalize promotional content and selection of appropriate themes for these flyers, eBlasts and promotions, * Be sure promotional pieces and releases go out on time and meet all expectations * Plan catalog pages for annual layout of the company catalog and coordinate the approval process, * Develop clear sales, customer service and industry awareness of relevant news in a timely manner with coordination of messages to ensure consistent brand and business-building themes in the market-appropriate media or customer communication vehicles, * Assure brand consistency in key company and distributor marketing communications, promotions and show specials, working with company sales & marketing teams and customer marketing teams to finalize banners, flyers, eBlasts and promotional pieces with the needed approvals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Marketing Communications Associate reports to the Director of Marketing and will work closely with Marketing, Sales and Engineering and will be responsible for the following: * Plan annual layout of catalog pages, manage content and do any needed copywriting * Research and write updated information for product manuals, instruction cards, catalogs, web site, training videos, presentations and for other uses, then work with Graphics and Engineering to complete these pieces accurately and effectively * Create and implement communication plans to include advertising, media releases, promotions, trade shows, conferences and meeting participation to support development of opportunities in key markets * Serve as editor, plan and do contributor coordination of the sales newsletter, working closely with the graphic designer to complete the layout and design * Media contact list development and maintenance, media communications development * Serve as a proactive marketing liaison w/key accounts"create or fill in database worksheets, provide pricing file support, and manage coordination for customer catalogs, flyers, eBlasts, web site and other promotional efforts, working closely with Sales & Customer Service * Develop show promotions and sales support, show media packets (when needed), new market exploration and testing of ideas for new markets * Develop content for new product flyers, spec sheets, launch kits, training videos & presentations, get approvals, put kits together and be sure they go out on time * Monitor web site to assure media releases are updated and promotions shown, as appropriate * Ensure that communication strategies are successfully implemented with partners and distributors to achieve key growth goals, including written communications and new product announcements and presentations * Track and measure effectiveness of communication and promotional initiatives and assure consistency in branding, messages & copy in all printed materials * Other projects and responsibilities as needed to help grow the business REQUIREMENTS: Only candidates with the following requirements will be considered: * Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English or Journalism * Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate Marketing / Communications role * 1-2 years of experience with catalogs and catalog databases " print and digital * Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and timelines effectively * Proven competence as a professional writer, editor and communicator * Capable of serving as a regular marketing and communications contact for the company * Media relations experience"proven ability to develop and work with media partners * Experience with trade shows and working with industry partners * Responsible, creative team player with demonstrated ability to make deadlines * Highly competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint * Demonstrated ability to develop interesting and effective promotions, implemented as both print and eBlast campaigns * Must be able to travel to events or meetings occasionally NOTE: * Healthcare industry experience preferred, especially if device-oriented * Bilingual or multilingual with translation / editing experience preferred * Some market research experience preferred * Full benefits / competitive salary / pleasant work environment * No relocation " must live in the Chicago area; office is close to Midway airport TO APPLY: * Send cover letter and resume to the attention of Lynne Jele, via eMail to ljele at homscales.com. * NO PHONE CALLS until invited for a phone interview. * Job will be filled as soon as the right candidate is found. * Apply by 9/30/2009 for best results.
